How to set up SATA Hard Drives

NOTE: Only specific, older model motherboards require these drivers for SATA support. Most Motherboards purchased in mid 2006 or later have the BIOS drivers written in at a BIOS level and will not require the additional installation. As a general rule, If you are installing Windows XP or later OS and your SATA devices are showing up on your initial POST screen, these drivers will not be required. If you have any questions as to whether you will require these drivers to set up your SATA hard drives, please contact our technical support department at (580) 272 0035

1. To set your computer up to boot to or use SATA drives, you will need the files found “here”. Put the two folders (AMD64, i386) and the single file (txtsetup.oem) on to a floppy disk. You will also need a floppy drive connected to the computer you wish to set the SATA up on.

2. Start your windows installation normally, and at the beginning of installation you will see a message at the bottom of the screen prompting you to press F6 to load third party drivers and software. (this section of the load can be easy to miss. try pressing F6 a few times to ensure that it takes.)

3. Setup will continue to load drivers before taking you to a screen that prompts you with two choices to press "S" to load the drivers or press "enter" to continue setup. Press "S".

4. At this point it will take you to a list of operating systems, choose the one that you are using. It will bring you back to the "S" and "Enter" screen, press enter this time. Continue windows setup normally, and you should be all set.

If you're looking for the drivers for an ATI board that uses the ULi chipset, please download those drivers “here”.
