This Process is generally required after a failed firmware update.
1. Connect your ONYX to your PC, and go to your device manager
2. In your device manager, you will find Player recovery device, or recovery class device (depending on your OS version)
3. Right click on the driver and select to uninstall the driver.
4. Disconnect the player form your computer, and move the ON/OFF switch on the device to the OFF position

5. Press and hold the PLAY button on the player. While holding the PLAY button, connect the device to your PC and continue to hold the PLAY button for 5 seconds.
6. Your computer will either run a found new hardware wizard, or give you a hardware recognition message. If the found new hardware wizard is displayed, select "Yes, this time only", and "search automatically"
7. Once the found new hardware wizard has finished loading drivers, or the hardware recognition message has completed, please go to http://www.machspeed.com/onyxfirmware.htm
8. read the entire page, and input your ONYX Identification number. This is the number on the rear of the player located to the right of the serial number sticker, and will begin with the number "07". Select I Agree.
9. Follow the instructions on the following page to reactivate the firmware on your player.
